Jaivon Wilson’s freshman season changed his mentality. “I got out there thinking I was going be ‘Mr. Guy’, but I got humbled real quick,” he said. “But I bounced back and started doing good.” He added, “it was a nice experience, and it was nice that I got that in my freshman year and not throughout my high school career.” A talented player, Wilson found some extra motivation for the next few years.

Wilson is a wide receiver and running back out of West Lauderdale High School in Mississippi. Standing at 6’3 with elite speed, he is one of the most physically dominating athletes in the class of 2026. “I like playing out wide more,” he said, but enjoys having the ball in his hands no matter what. “I gotta go score.” His height, alongside a 36’’ vertical make him a handful to guard. “I can go up and get the ball real easy,” he said.

Wilson’s talent has been recognized, as he was listed as the 103rd best wide receiver in the class of 2026 by WRHitlist. “That was nice, because I didn’t have a lot of high school film,” Wilson said. “They still listed me around 100, that was nice.”

While Wilson may not have a lot of high school film, his 8th grade film is dominant. There’s big play after big play, with Wilson electrifying both as a pass catcher and a ball carrier. “My ability to break tackles flies under the radar,” he said. “I want to develop my catching.”

Wilson does not have any official offers yet, but has spoken with two schools: Boston College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. His dream school is the University of Alabama. “I’ve just had a plan for them for a long time,” he said. Ultimately, his goal is to reach the NFL.

Jaivon Wilson has a lot of desirable traits: speed, size, attitude and hunger. “I want to start next year,” he said. “I’m going to have to get in the weight room.” He credits his freshman year for improving his attitude and coachability, which he considers to be some of his biggest strengths. With exciting talent and a desire to get better, Jaivon Wilson will be a name to watch over the next few years.
